My place

In March of 2003, I got my first own place. It is run basically run by an ECU program, an environmental control and computer operation program called Multimedia Max. It basically runs my house for me, turning lights on and off, opening and closing doors, adjusts my thermostat all by voice command. I also have surveillance cameras at the front and the rear to see who is at the door and a great security system with voice boxes and a button to let people in by Pacific Security. Multimedia Max has enabled me to do what I never thought I would be able to do, live alone and feel secure. Multimedia Max also stores and dials phone numbers and all by voice command. Even after the installation is done the man that installed it, Dan the computer man, is always quick to answer my phone calls when I have a problem. He is also very patient.

I also have a ceiling lift from Max Ability. It is in my bedroom and runs into my bathroom. It lowers me down into the bathtub so I can finally, after eight years, take a bath and feel secure. It can also put me over my toilet far easier and faster bowl programs.

My front door and the gate to my ramp open by the push of a button. For the front door, it looks like a garage door opener and for the gate, I have pushed pads on either side. The company that installed those for me is called Open Sesame.

We had a really nice housewarming party. My cousin Kelly barbecued some excellent food and a lot of friends and family attended.I met so many really nice people when I moved here, a lot of the other places I lived I commuted so never really had time to get to know any of my neighbors. I love it here, I feel like I am on vacation every day!

On June 8th, 2008 the construction was completed on my new home in Santa Cruz, it was everything I ever dreamed of. I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t want to live in Santa Cruz. A friend of mine, Charlie Costa, built it and you could just tell that he built it as though he was building it for himself, he did an awesome job.

The home automation system that I had in my previous house did not work here so my brother David installed a whole new system, he did a great job and I’m so proud of him.

I thought Santa Cruz was going to be my forever home! I knew that at some point I wanted to move to Salem Oregon to be around family, it just happened a lot sooner than I thought. I've been thinking about buying a place here so that I will have a place when it's time. My mom got pretty sick and it was obvious that she knew to be around somebody to take care of her, she decided she wanted to move here words closer to lots of family. My thoughts of buying a home here started getting to be more like reality, I came down thinking I was going to be looking for a new home. I really wanted to keep my home in Santa Cruz, I wanted to stay here for a little while longer and I was going to keep my house in case I change my mind and rent it to the guy that helped me out with you my house so beautiful that the caregivers. After coming in looking at houses I decided if this is going to be my forever home I'm going to have to sell my home in Santa Cruz. I think that was one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make but knowing that family care is so awesome and I watch other parties and get-togethers and I'm a little jealous that I'm not there. When we saw the three-level house I for one knew it was perfect and I really didn't want to look anymore. My brother and sister-in-law can live on the upper level, my mom on the middle level, and me on the bottom… It was perfect! 6 acres in the house is absolutely gorgeous!
